A Celebration of Short Film for Everyone

On December 21 – the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere – short films can be seen all over Germany. Soccer stadiums, marketplaces and backyards become open-air cinemas, shop windows and shopping centres turn into projection screens. Film theatres, public institutions, associations, companies and individuals organize their own film events. In museums, living rooms and cinemas - on the shortest day of the year, short film is everywhere.

Once a year, the German Short Film Association calls on everyone to organize their own short film event in the week from December 15 to 21. The association encourages cooperation between film festivals and public institutions, supports distributors in presenting their programs and offers advice on organizing of screenings.

In Germany, Short Film Day is celebrated with more than 500 short film events in over 200 towns and cities. Supporting films, self-curated short film programs, moderated film premieres or children's programs with cookie baking - there are no limits to the organizers' imagination.

More information about Short Film Day can be found on this website (available only in German). If you have any questions about the project please send us a message: info@kurzfilmtag.com
